Cornishia Simmons is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a heart for people. Driven by passion and purpose, she chose the path of mental health counseling as a way to educate, empower, and encourage women, children, and adolescents to initiate change and strive towards a better tomorrow. She enjoys being able to help clients see beyond their current barriers to reach their fullest potential. Valuing the counselor-client relationship, Cornishia seeks to truly know each of her clients. 

 

She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the Florida A & M University and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Florida. She is credentialed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida. Although she practices therapy from an eclectic approach, Cornishia is specifically trained in Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. She has an extensive experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment, and anger management concerns. Cornishia has over 6 years experience working with adults of diverse demographics struggling with trauma, family issues, relationship concerns, life transitions and moderate to severe mental illnesses. Cornishia strives to serve and promote mental wellness for all communities.
